What my master's research on phosphate removal taught me

My master's thesis looked at an iron-oxide-loaded adsorbent for enhanced phosphate removal from water.
I studied this at Suzhou University of Science and Technology. Excess phosphate is a real pollution problem for water, and research is only useful if it can leave the lab.
That is the habit I carry into my PhD work at the University of Nairobi: start from a real problem, test carefully, and think about who will use the result.
